14/3/2008Cruise control as city fashion giant sets up new HQ

ONE OF Glasgow's best-known fashion retailers is moving its HQ. Cruise, which operates a number of properties across the city centre, is centralising all its operations at a site in the Merchant City.

Ashford Property Group has agreed a new lease for Cruise Clothing over the entire building at 184-188 Ingram Street.

From this month, Cruise will relocate all head office and administrative functions from Miller Street into the first, second and third floors of the traditional stone building, on the corner of Ingram Street and Frederick Street.

The self-contained ground and lower ground floors already house the firm's flagship Glasgow store and this latest move will mark the consolidation of all its Glasgow operations in one site.

The 13,000 sq ft property is owned by Edinburgh-based Ashford Property Group.

Cruise has agreed a 15-year lease on the entire building.

Andrew Smith, director of Ashford Property Group, said: "We are very pleased to have agreed this deal with such a high-profile tenant." Iain Baird, finance director for Cruise, said: "This is an excellent business move for us to consolidate all our Glasgow staff into one building. This move meets our business needs perfectly and offers scope for future expansion."

Cruise has been flying the flag for Scottish fashion since it first opened its doors in 1982.

It has brought exclusive clothing ranges from top designers including Prada, Gucci and Alexander McQueen to Scotland. Cruise has 12 UK stores selling designer clothing and accessories for men and women.
